3.6mi easy pace recovery run this morning, then made the following for breakfast: (Fresh tomato with Hawaiian black salt, bagel sandwich with scrambled egg, swiss chard and Carr Valley Bandaged Billy cheese, and coffee).

Previous PR time/speed at the Tuesday Night Time Trials: 30:13/21.52MPH (average HR 159BPM, roughly 83% of my max heart rate) Tonight: 29:30/22.05MPH (average HR 170BPM, roughly 90% of my max heart rate) Cut almost 45 seconds from my previous PR!  I guess I recovered from Sunday’s 40k time trial pretty quickly…

Last tune-up race before Ultramidwest
Today was the first Druber’s 40k Time Trial Challenge in Tolono, Illinois (about 20 minutes south of us).  I did it in the Naked/Eddy Merckx/Cannibal/WhateverTheHellYouWantToCallIt (ie, no aero equipment) division. Woke up feeling dehydrated from last night’s indoor training ride in the garage.  40 minute easy pace recovery ride, now I’m waiting for a cup of OhMyGodThisCoffee’sStrong from our French press.

Due to very bad thunderstorms, no Wednesday night group ride/hammerfest, so I did the first 2 hours of Spinervals Hardcore 100 in the garage.  Thunderstorm hadn’t cooled down the garage, but it had made it more humid - I think I probably sweated off about 5 pounds.

Tonight’s the regular Wednesday night Wild Card Cycling hammerfest - starting to load up on calories now 1 bowl Fiber One, purple potato/onion hash, 2 fried eggs, coffee w/ chai spice

Feeling good re: preparations for the 6-hour race in 17 days - another Tuesday night circuit race tonight, and by far the best one of the season so far (previous best average speed was 21.3MPH, tonight’s average speed was 22.2MPH, averaging 88% of my max heart rate tonight).  Rode home after the race, refueled with a big bowl of high-protein pasta + home-made pesto, plus a protein bar. ...

yeah.  the less said about the last two weeks or so, the better.  Rest/recovery day today.

Cross-training/recovery day
Biked to the campus rec center, worked on my front crawl, did a little light/easy backstroke after front crawl, biked home, and made the following for breakfast: 2 eggs, zucchini, garlic, fresh goat’s milk feta, cilantro, black Hawaiian sea salt.

Back from a well-deserved Wisconsin vacation.  Went out for the Wednesday night Wild Card HammerFest, it went quite well.  Averaged 1.5MPH faster tonight than the last time I did the Wedneday night ride (tonight my average speed was 20.5MPH over 40.5 miles, last time was 19MPH over 49 miles), managed to hang with the main pack much longer than last time.  Max heart rate during the ride was 189,...

I’m now roughly 1 month out from the Ultramidwest 6 Hour Road Race.  This is the race I’ve been training for all season. Time to start peaking for the race.
